Ste. Suzanne, Jublains and Arriving at the Normandy Coast

We left Chartres after just a night and meandered northwest in Steve & Vern's car, a pleasant change after transit and trains. Vern is a real history and experience buff. He picked out towns along the way that might provide some medieval intrigue and they didn't disappoint. First was Ste. Suzanne and I was pretty chuffed that this active village and picturesque chateau was inspired by a female. Its medieval town is still vital and charming with the small chateau offering a peek into how the privileged lived.

At the top of the ramparts, there were figures made with plastic waste. Interesting recycling.

The view of the countryside is rather magnificent.

This cute man keeps following me around.

Our buddy Steve.

Tarot cards must have been big around here. There were several signs using their images.

Roses over here still have an amazing and deep fragrance. Old vines, perhaps; unlike many at home.

Vern is just behind Steve's shoulder, how do I not have a good picture of the two of them?

Leaving Ste. Suzanne, we continued to Jublains where we were treated to some Roman ruins.

Arriving at the Normandy coast we caught our first distant view of Mont. St. Michel and just a hint at the magic  we would experience the next day.
